The Maths Habit ("we", "our", "the app") is run by Karra Hartland, trading as The Maths Habit. We are the controller of your information and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (reference ZB959889). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use the app.
When you create an account, we collect your display name and email address. As you use the app, we store your question responses, streaks, progress data and settings preferences. This data is necessary to provide the core functionality of the app, including tracking your revision progress and maintaining your position on school leaderboards.
We use your information to provide and improve the app experience, including: displaying your progress and streak data, showing your position on school leaderboards, sending optional daily revision reminders via push notifications, and maintaining your accessibility preferences.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption and is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption.
We use the following third-party services:
Supabase — for authentication and data storage. Their privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Google Sign-In — as an optional authentication method. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Apple Sign-In — as an optional authentication method. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Stripe — to take payment for subscriptions bought on our website. Stripe receives your email address and payment details; we never see or store your card details. Their privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Apple App Store and Google Play — to take payment for subscriptions bought in the mobile apps.
Vercel — to host our website and the app's server functions. Their privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Sentry — to tell us when the app hits an error. Sentry receives technical details about the error and your device. Their privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy.
Upstash — to limit repeated requests and protect the app from abuse, using your IP address. Their privacy policy is available at upstash.com/trust/privacy.pdf.
The app may send daily reminder notifications to help you maintain your revision streak. You can disable these at any time through your device settings.
The Maths Habit is designed for GCSE students (typically aged 14-16). We do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the app to function. We do not serve advertising or share data with advertisers.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email address below.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also request a copy of your data in a portable format.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
